Max Zeugner, double bass, associate principal, The New York Philharmonic

The musicians will be performing original music from the brother's breathtaking album, “Brothers”, composed by Aldo Lopez- Gavilán and edited for violin and piano by Ilmar Gavilan. “Epilogue”, a program highlight, was premiered in the USA by Joshua Bell in 2016 at the Lincoln Center.

Aldo López-Gavilán's authentic voice has a genre-defying sound rooted in European classical traditions,
Latin jazz, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Drawing from a range of colors associated with Schumann and
Ravel's work, Aldo's compositions weave a layered tapestry described as magical, optimistic, and at its
core, deeply soulful.

Music will be interspersed with excerpts from the award-winning PBS documentary Los Hermanos, which tells the story of the Gavilan Brothers journey from Cuba to the USA.
